Wilbur the Pig Passes Away on Murfreesboro Farm

The famous pig from Batey Farms in Murfreesboro, who was chosen for the cover of the 2006 edition of Charlotte’s Webb, recently passed away.

charlotte's web 2006 editionWilbur was hand-selected by the author’s granddaughter for the book cover. He became a celebrity of sorts with thousands of visitors coming to the farm to catch a glimpse of Wilbur. He even visited local schools as well.

On Facebook, Batey Farms posted a message. “Farm life teaches us the value of life and the precious cycle as it evolves. Thank you, Wilbur, for teaching us how to appreciate each day we are granted for we ALL are ‘stupendous’ and ‘radiant’ in our own ways!”

Upon learning of the death of Wilbur, fans posted their memories of Wilbur on the Batey Farms Facebook page recalling their visits to Batey Farms or when Wilbur visited their school.
