After a much publicized and tumultuous head coaching search, Knoxville has their man in Jeremy Pruitt. The now former Alabama defensive coordinator will take on the roll of head coach, a position he has never held before.
Despite having never been a head coach, Pruitt’s football background is an impressive one to say the least. With three total national titles to his résumé, (two at Alabama as a defensive backs coach and one with Florida State as defensive coordinator) his reputation speaks for itself.
But before the head coaching gig and multiple national titles, coach Pruitt dawned Radier Blue while he played football in college. During the 1993 and 94 season, Pruitt played for the Boots Donnelly lead, Blue Raiders. At MT, Pruitt was a starting defensive back for his two seasons in Murfreesboro. Pruitt, an Alabama native, would ultimately end his playing career back in Alabama at Tuscaloosa.
So while the head coaching experience might be new for Pruitt, coming to the Tri-Star state won’t be.
Maybe he’ll schedule a MTSU/UT home and home series in the future??
