Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Firefighters Jonathan Parsons and Lance Sutton were promoted to the position of Engineer this week.
The two were selected from a list of 15 qualified applicants.
Meet the NEW Engineers
Jonathan Parsons
Jonathan Parsons has been with MFRD since March 2008. He is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelors in Business Administration. Parsons is an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), a Child Safety Seat Technician, and is certified in Swiftwater I and II and SCUBA diving. He is also an active member of the National Award Winning MFRD Honor Guard and the Special Events Team.
Parsons and wife Josie will be celebrating their ninth wedding anniversary this year and have two children, Jace (3) and Jolie (7 months). When he is not at MFRD, he enjoys working on his property, spending time with his family, and staying fit at Crossfit Hendersonville.

Parsons’ twin brother, Joshua, is also an Engineer with MFRD.
Lance Sutton
Lance Sutton has been with MFRD since January 2005. He is an AEMT and is certified as a technician in the following areas: Rope Rescue, Urban Search and Rescue (USAR), Structural Collapse, Confined Space, Hazardous Materials, and Child Safety Seats. He also holds Instructor, Fire Investigation, and Wildland Firefighter certifications. Sutton is an active member of the National Award Winning MFRD Honor Guard and serves as its coordinator. He is also a member of the Special Events Team and is an instructor for the department’s Citizens Fire Academy.
When he is not at MFRD, he keeps busy running a landscaping business. He also competes in the Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Racquetball League and enjoys other activities such as mountain biking, rock climbing, trail running, and spending time with family and friends.

Fire Rescue Chief Mark Foulks commented on the promotions, “These two gentlemen displayed the professional skill sets and knowledge that are crucial to being a successful Engineer, and I have no doubt that they will both excel in their new positions.”
