Due to continued winter precipitation and worsening road conditions, the decision has been made to postpone the remaining rounds of team competition of the state bowling tournament. The safety of the student athletes, coaches, family members, and fans is top priority and the extremely bad road conditions in Middle Tennessee and throughout the state have led to this decision. The initial decision to delay the tournament until Saturday was with the hope that conditions would improve. That is no longer the case, as it has snowed throughout the afternoon and the temperature is not predicted to reach above the freezing level until Sunday, and possibly not until Monday.
We will communicate with the Smyrna Bowling Center staff in regards to options of rescheduling the team competition as soon as possible. As soon as a decision is made, we will notify all schools competing in the tournament.
This is obviously not an ideal situation, and we did not want to have to reschedule the tournament, but we must err on the side of the safety of the student-athletes.
