A Risk Tennessee Leaders Won’t Take
The Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Burns Phillips, announced an order Thursday prohibiting the ride known as the “Fireball,” from being used in state fairs in Tenn. The decision comes in light of the recent tragedy that took place at the Ohio State Fair on Wednesday.
Commissioner Phillips comments on the decision…
“After much consideration and thought, and with the safety of Tennesseans and visitors to our great state in mind, I have decided the Fireball amusement device should not operate here.”
“Each and every day, safety is our top priority,” Commissioner Phillips said. “I prefer to err on the side of caution in this case and eliminate the possibility of any further accidents with this particular device.”
The decision is one that other states such as California, Kentucky and Indiana have made as well.
