TDOT Updates Memorial and Broad Project

The last quarter of 2016 has come and gone, and the Bridge over Broad project continues to evolve.

The biggest change is the shifting of west bound traffic on SR-96 to the new northwest ramp in early December. In addition to the traffic shift, Bell & Associates have placed concrete for the footings and columns on Interior Bent #1 of the new bridge which can be seen on the Old Fort Parkway side of the interchange.

As Highways Inc. continues to place borrow material in lifts, other work items will become available such as storm drainage, the placement of select backfill behind the interior retaining walls, and landscaping.

Bell currently has a crew setting forms for the cap on Interior Bent #1. Other crews will also be widening the left side of SR-1, installing storm drainage on the left side of SR-96 in front of Value Vet, and working on the footings and columns for Interior Bent #2. Motorists are urged to use caution, reduce speed, and be alert to changing road conditions in the construction zone.

Key Project Events

Portions of Broadmor Blvd. will be closed until further notice.

Traffic on Broad St. will remain reduced from 7 to 5 lanes from West Main St. to
Ridgely Rd.

Work on project ramps and retaining walls will continue.
