Walking into the new location of Tasty Table and Olive Branch Bakery is like walking into home. It is open and inviting with the energy and hubbub of a neighborhood eatery you would find in a big city, but with the heart of a small town.
Opening day the baked goods were flying out of the displace case, especially Jacqueline Edward’s signature French Macaroons. Then there was the cheesecake banana bread. Pure decadence!
Besides baked goods from Olive Branch Bakery, the breakfast menu includes items like the favorite Sweet Potato Hash, an open bagel with egg, mozzarella, avocado and Pico de Gallo, and avocado toast with caramelized onion, poached egg, pepper jelly, bacon, and arugula.
The lunch menu is no less mouth-watering. The Tasty Pizza allows the choice of Naan, Cauliflower, Flatbread or Wood Fire crust topped with a tangy roasted red pepper hummus, black beans, Brussel sprout leaves and cheddar cheese served with a side of salsa. There are also an assortment of snacks, wraps, sandwiches, and salads. The favorite sandwich is The Nana. It is slow cooked roasted sirloin topped with melted smoked gouda on a dark wheat hoagie.
Owners Laura Gossett and Jacqueline Edwards also offer a variety of soups, including the very popular brie based Tuscan Chicken soup, and teas and coffees. The Golden Milk Latte is a healthy choice enhanced by honey, cardamom, turmeric tea, and almond milk.
“This is a true partnership between two separate businesses,” said Edwards. “We both came out of the food service industry. I am a self-taught baker. Laura has been catering for nine years, then she had a food truck at The Grove before we opened the place on Medical Center Parkway.”
Tasty Table and Olive Branch Bakery’s new location offers plenty of room to dine and spend time with friends. According to Gossett, they will have seating outside during the summer, and in the future there will be an event space on the second floor.
“We’d like to do some farm-to-table lunches and special breakfasts in the future,” added Edwards.
They will continue to do catering, baking for special events, and provide an ever-changing menu of tasty treats for every table.
