On Friday night even the weather didn’t give the Redhawks of Stewarts Creek a break. Smyrna, coming off a big win over La Vergne in Week 1, continued riding the shoulders of their big back Casey Perkins . Perkins rushed for over 140 yards and found the endzone three times. But it wasn’t just the running game that was clicking on all cylinders for Smyrna, it was a complete effort by all involved.

Smyrna Plays Balancing Act

While Perkins did his thing on the ground, MTSU commit went 8 of 9 for over 250 yards and 4 touchdowns. The Bulldogs did their part . They held Stewart’s Creek tight in the first half, harassing Redhawks QB Ryan Haraway at every turn. Smyrna’s Blake Watkins returned a first half interception for 50 yards and a TD.

Smyrna scored 51 points in the first half. This despite a weather delay of over an hour and a half. At 51-14 at the half, scoring slowed in the second as the Redhawks D figured some thing out and were only outscored 14-6. Final score: 65-20 Smyrna.
