People who wish to operate a boat and were born after January 1989 must first complete the Tennessee Boaters Safety course.
School Resource Officer Mark Logsdon will teach the course from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, September 28.
Students must bring the type 600 Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency exam permit that can be purchased on the TWRA website at https://www.tn.gov/twra/boating.html.
This four-hour course is Coast Guard accredited and teaches boat and water safety.
Logsdon’s class is geared for students from 8th to 12 grades because that age group is where most drownings occur in Rutherford County.
