Softball roundup: Siegel shuts out Knoxville Bearden

Seigel rolled to a 10-0 victory over Knoxville Bearden Thursday in girls high school softball action as Alissa Hardin tossed a two-hit shutout in the game.

The game was halted after five innings due to the run rule.

Kristin Lee, Hollee Henson and Madison Levi were the top hitters for the Lady Stars, collecting two hits apiece for Siegel.

In other softball action, the Central Magnet Lady Tigers trounced Cannon County, 14-0, behind the pitching of Kali Penny, who struck out 10 hitters in tossing a shutout.

Ashley Dyer had a three-run home run for the Lady Tigers.

Several other Rutherford County teams took part in the Commando Classic in Hendersonville.

Riverdale split a pair of games Thursday in the tournament, edging Wilson Central, 6-4, but then the Lady Warriors dropped a 1-0 decision against Clarksville in the same tournament.

Stewarts Creek picked up two wins in the tournament, as the Lady Red Hawks topped Portland, 7-1, and Pope John Paul II, 8-2.
