Smyrna’s Jose Baeza hit a field goal with nine seconds to play, helping the Bulldogs to a 15-14 win over Stewart’s Creek on Friday.
The Red Hawks led 14-3 at half. But Smyrna quarterback Alex Bannister helped the Bulldogs get within two late in the fourth quarter after a 10-yard rushing score.
It’s the second time each team has had a game decided in the final seconds. Smyrna won its season opener on a Hail Mary from Bannister, while Stewart’s Creek returned a blocked field goal on the game’s last play against McGavock last week for the win.
Smyrna hosts Antioch next week, and Stewart’s Creek has a home game with Blackman.
