In the Smyrna-La Vergne Battle of the Border, it’s been one sided for awhile. Smyrna didn’t waste alot of time reminding La Vergne of that Friday night.
Tale Of Two Running Backs
Casey Perkins, who has an offer from MTSU amongst others, was just too much for La Vergne. The talented running back had 17 carries for 128 yards and 3 TDs. Add to that QB Turner’s 8-9 for 131 yards in the air, and Smyrna ticked off 38 unanswered points.
La Vergne’s Ketavies Bryant had the biggest individual performance, despite the loss. Bryant had 22 carries for 215 yards. And since stats are often deceiving, it should be noted that La Vergne had 365 yards of total offense to Smyrna’s 297.
Final score: 38-20 Smyrna. Smyrna goes to Stewarts Creek next Friday and La Vergne welcomes Antioch.
