Late January 2016 a Smyrna citizen was contacted by a Scam Artist who told them that he was from Mega Millions Sweepstakes Lottery in Dallas, Texas and that the citizen had won a car and $3.5 million dollars. The citizen would be able to pick any color for the car, but was requested to send $310 dollars. The citizen went to Walmart and was told it was a scam by an employee and did not send any money. The Scam Artist later called back claiming he need to meet so the Smyrna citizen can get the car and money but that he now needed a larger amount of money to be sent via MoneyGram. The citizen stated he has received several calls, one claiming the Scam Artist showed up at the same Walmart and showed an employee the check and car.

The citizen was able to prove the Scam Artist wrong because he claimed to have talked to a dark haired woman, when the citizen spoke with a blond haired female. The Scam Artist is believed to have the caller’s address in Smyrna, Tennessee and is threatening to show up at their home.
