Smyrna SuspectOn April 1, 2016, Smyrna Police received a call from the Eau Claire Police Department in Wisconsin. Eau Claire PD advised Smyrna Police that a subject they recently arrested for privacy violations may have committed similar offenses in Smyrna.

Smyrna Detectives began corresponding with Eau Claire PD and determined this suspect had computers containing photos and video footage of females inside bathrooms. Detectives also determined that several of these images were taken inside female bathrooms at the Volunteer Park on 8th Avenue in Smyrna.

Detectives have ensured that currently, no electronic recording devices are located within any of the Town’s park system restroom facilities. The investigation is ongoing; however, at this stage the devices appeared to have been transient and not affixed for overnight periods.

As a result of this investigation, Smyrna Police have arrested William Ted Davis for Especially Aggravated Sexual Exploitation of a Minor (Class B Felony). Davis is being held on a $100,000 bond and will have an initial court appearance in Smyrna General Sessions Court on April 12th.
If anyone is concerned that they or their child may be on video, please contact Detective Allan Nabours via email at [email protected] and please attach a photo of you or your loved one. The photo will be compared to photographs in a database at the police department and you will be notified if you or your child was a victim.
