Authorities have identified the skydiving instructor killed Saturday in a tragic accident over Nashville as 35-year-old Justin Robert Fuller of Murfreesboro.

Metro Police say Fuller and a 46-year-old student became stuck on the side of the plane during a tandem jump when Fuller became separated from the rig and fell without a parachute. The student’s emergency chute deployed, and he landed in a tree near the 4500 block of Ashland City Highway.

An MNPD helicopter crew spotted the student, and Nashville Fire Department personnel successfully rescued him. A separate helicopter crew later located Fuller in a nearby clearing along the 4800 block of Ashland City Highway.

The Federal Aviation Administration will lead the investigation into the cause of the incident.
