Sears has come full circle in Williamson County following the Nov. 10 ribbon cutting of the Sears Hometown store in McKay’s Mill.

The one-time mall anchor store was one of the first to build in the CoolSprings Galleria mall along with Castner-Knott and Dillard’s. The new Sears Hometown store is the first brick and mortar presence for the brand since the mall store closed in 2013.

Sears Hometown Store opened on Nov. 10 at 1415 Liberty Pike at the roundabout with Oxford Glen Drive in Franklin in a former Walgreens.

Local store owner William Talbot said he thought the location would be great for those living in the nearby neighborhoods of east Franklin.

Sears Hometown Store associates can order customers any product from the entire merchandise selection offered by Sears, including apparel, footwear, jewelry and much more. Customers also have the option to order products online and pick them up in the store without a shipping charge. The Franklin store also will offer Sears Nationwide Service, Parts and Installation.

The Franklin location marks the 12th opening of a new Sears Hometown Store this year and the 13th opening of a new store across all of Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores formats, owned and operated by a member of the local community.

“Our sales team is eager to begin helping our customers make the home appliance choice that fits their needs,” Talbot said. “We strive to make the shopping experience as convenient as possible; if we don’t have an item you’re looking for in stock, you can search our full line of products online and have it delivered or pick it up in store.”

The new Sears Hometown Store carries appliance brands such as Kenmore®, Maytag®, KitchenAid®, Whirlpool®, Bosch®, Frigidaire® and GE®, plus a large assortment of lawn and garden equipment, Craftsman® tools, fitness equipment, electronics, mattresses and more.

The format echoes the history of the company, which first began as a mail-order company with a catalog in 1888, and later began building stores to support the mail order operation in neighborhoods away from central business districts.  The first Sears department store opened in 1925 in Chicago.
