Rutherford Weekend: 5 Things to do This Weekend

1. Opening Day Smyrna Farmers Depot

 

WHAT: Join Smyrna and local farmers as they open the 2019 Season at the Smyrna Depot Farmers Market. As always there’s fresh, seasonal produce from local farmers, and Artisan crafts and Fresh baked goods from area businesses and makers. There’ll also be a Kidz Zone, Cotton Candy, Ice Cream, and Drawings for $20 Market Cash and Market Baskets. Sponsors of this season’s market include Carpe Artista, Town of Smyrna Parks and Recreation, Dempsey Dilling and Associates, Front Street Signs, Tennessee Chiropractic Alliance, Shanti Heathcock, and Smyrna Independent Merchants Association.

2. 3rd Annual Motlow BBQ

WHAT: The 3rd Annual Motlow BBQ event is hosted by Motlow College Foundation to help raise funds for the new and third building at Motlow’s Smyrna campus. Motlow’s Smyrna campus is growing and shows no signs of stopping any time soon. The Motlow College Foundation, a 501c(3) organization, is the fundraising arm for Motlow State and everything the Foundation does directly benefits Motlow’s students. The 3rd Annual Motlow BBQ is expected to draw over 250 supporters from the Middle Tennessee Region. There will be a Live and Silent Auction.

Tickets:
$65 per person
All tickets include dinner, tea, and three (3) drink tickets.

Event Schedule
The social hour and music will begin at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6:15, a short program at 7 p.m., and Mid-South Mobile DJ kicking off the music and dancing at 7:30 p.m. Event t-shirts will be available for purchase the night of the event.

3. Murfreesboro Gun Show

WHAT: RK Shows will have a variety of vendors displaying guns, hunting supplies, military surplus and outdoor gear. Vendors also will be available to teach you, answer your questions, and help you find exactly what you’re looking for.

Adults (Ages 13 & up): $10, VIP: $12.50 – no line, no wait
Children (Ages 6-12): $4, VIP: $6.50 – no line, no wait

4. Murfreesboro MotorClub Father’s Day Fest

WHAT: Murfreesboro Motor Club is hosting a Father’s Day festival celebrating father’s day by bringing together people and cars at Mayday Brewery. There’s going to be a DJ, food, and fun planned for the event, so bring out your father and celebrate him.

5. Juneteenth Celebration

 

WHAT: Rutherford County’s 1st African American school is celebrating Juneteenth, also known as Juneteenth Independence Day or Freedom Day. This American holiday commemorates the June 19, 1865, announcement of the abolition of slavery in the U.S. state of Texas, and more generally the emancipation of enslaved African Americans throughout the former Confederate States of America.

Bring your family and friends and join the community for this annual event. There will be games and activities for the kids, food vendors, art vendors, and live music for the entire family!
