Rutherford Weekend: 5 Things to do This Weekend

1. Eagleville Truck and Tractor Pull

 

WHAT: Come on out to one of the most entertaining motorsport events for a night of fun. You never know what you will see hook to the sled. The event also promised a number of vendors for food, treats, and souvenirs.

General admission tickets are $10 a person and children 8 and under are free with an adult ticket, so bring the whole family. Early Infield parking 4pm to 6pm; parking is $10.00 a vehicle. Coolers & Lawn Chairs Welcome. NO GLASS BOTTLES!

2. Poetry Reading & Open Mic

WHAT: Enjoy listening to poetry – or share some writing of your own – with Poetry in the Boro! This month’s feature is Denise Satterfield Wilson, and following that is an edition of In Other Voices, when actors read poetry YOU submit. Poems may be your own work or by others. Doors open at 6:30pm and the program begins at 7:00pm. This event is free and open to the public, thanks to support from MTSU Write.

3. Field Day Picnic

WHAT: Hosted by the North Boulevard West Church, this field day at Barfield Crescent Park is a fun event for the whole community. Come enjoy free food and play football, tug-of-war, sack race, pool-noodle baseball, and more!! Food includes burgers, hot dogs, chips, and cookies. There will also be music and door prizes for those who attend. Come join this free community event.

4. The Annual Great Tennessee Air Show

WHAT: Every year in Smyna near the airport, people watch one of the best shows of entertainment in the area. This weekend, the Great Tennessee Air Show returns, presented by Nissan and featuring the U.S. Navy Blue Angels. While you can certainly see the show from several free spots in Smyrna, the event is hosted at the Smyrna Airport with a kids zone, ground displays, and a number of performers. 5. Need to be Free! A Gluten-Free Cooking Class

 

WHAT: Whether you’ve found out that you have a sensitivity to gluten, have Celiac Disease or you want to learn more about cooking gluten-free, try this cooking class. The Curious Kitchen, hosting this class, will help you prepare a menu that is simple, tasty, and easy to do including – Mixed Green Salad with Gluten Free Croutons, – Oven Baked “”Fried Chicken””, – Confetti Veggie Rice, – Mini Orange Almond Cakes, – Peanut Butter Brownies. Tickets are $65 per a person for the class, ingredients are provided.
