Rutherford Weekend: 5 Things to do This Weekend

1. Boro Adventure Fest

WHAT: It’s the annual Boro Adventure Fest, created to celebrate the wanderlust culture of Murfreesboro. There’s everything including Live Music, Kayaking, SUP, Rock Climbing, Food Trucks, Kids Zone, Outdoor Classroom, Vendors, Giveaways, and MORE! Whether you want to escape for a day into the woods to join a community of adventure seekers, explorers, risk takers, and nature lover or just participate in the other fun activities, there’s a little something for everyone to enjoy. Hosted by Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Dept. and Candle Wishes Foundation, All proceeds will benefit Candle Wishes, a local non-profit that fulfills the birthday wishes and provides essential needs for homeless and needy children in our community. cost is $10 with pre-registration for adults ($20 day of), Kids 12 and under are FREE. 2. Adventures in Agriculture

WHAT: The adventures in Murfreesboro continues in the Lane Agri-Center, where you can participate in a family-friendly event to learn about all things agriculture! There’s going to be everything from farm animals and tractors to exhibits, activities, and hay rides. If you’re wanting to learn about the agriculture parts of our community, this is the event to go to.

WHEN: Saturday, April 13 from 10am-2pm

WHERE: Lane Agri-Park Community Center, 315 John Rice Boulevard #101, Murfreesboro

3. Park Day 2019 Volunteer Event

WHAT: Join in a different adventure by helping to clean up and preserve our parks and history. This Saturday Stones River National Battlefield and others are joining together with friends, neighbors and partners at the Old Fort Park picnic pavilion in an effort to remove trash and invasive exotic plants from Fortress Rosecrans, Old Fort Park and the Lytle Creek Greenway. If you register ahead, they are also providing shirts and free lunch for up to 200 volunteers. Register at their event website. Volunteers should wear long sleeve shirts, long pants, and closed-toe shoes. We also recommend you bring your own work gloves and water bottles.

4. Music and Food Truck Festival

WHAT: The 3rd annual Cousins Maine Lobster Music and Food Fest is happening this weekend. The #cmlnashbash3 is having some fun surprises and special guests along with a beer tent and kids play area.  Live music will be all day provided by house concerts at Buddy Place with food trucks from Cousins Maine Lobster, Chivanada, Music City Brisket, The Kamasouptruck and more! There’s also several local vendors including Riley/Land Collection. There’s also free giveaways. They ask those attending to RSVP through their Facebook event page. This is a rain or shine event so dress appropriately!

5. Crafty Canvas Painting for Adults – Mt. Fuji

WHAT: Have you wanted to learn to paint or just to do something crafty occasionally. This class is specially made for adults who are beginners when it comes to painting class for adults! In this particular class, the artist instructor will guide you step by step to create your very own Mt. Fuji painting! To register for this event, you need to sign-up with your library card for La Vergne Public Library in person. The class costs $5 at time of sign-up.
