The Rutherford County Board of Education has once again earned the “Board of Distinction” award from the Tennessee School Boards Association.

“The award is important because it shows the Board is willing to work together for the good of the kids,” School Board Chairman Jim Estes said. “The award takes a lot of effort from the Board members who have completed many requirements.”

To earn the award, School Board members have to complete several tasks in the categories of planning, policy, promotion and board development.

The School Board was presented with a plaque at its Aug. 15 meeting.

It marks the fourth time the Rutherford County School Board has earned the award. The Board of Distinction status remains active for two years.
