The Week 2 Rutherford County Player of the Week award goes to senior QB Joseph Peck of Middle Tennessee Christian School. Cougar fans have to be excited for this season after witnessing the home opener in Week 2. MTCS displayed a plethora of offensive firepower in a 47-6 victory over Region 5-1A foe Red Boiling Springs. The Cougars are now 2-0 on the season and will carry momentum into a huge region game this Friday against Jo Byrns High School.
Joseph Peck had an outstanding game against Red Boiling Springs in Week 2. Peck displayed his full arsenal as a dual threat quarterback by throwing for 130 yards and two scores while adding 118 yards rushing and two touchdowns on the ground. Put the two together and Peck accounted for 248 total yards and 4 touchdowns against the Bulldogs. The Cougars’ offense is based out of the spread formation with the quarterback receiving the snap out of the shotgun on most plays. This is the perfect offense to showcase Joseph Peck’s skills at the quarterback position. Peck is accurate on the quick hitting routes often called by Coach Shambaugh and shows good chemistry with his receivers. His two touchdown passes against Red Boiling Springs were split between junior Logan Brady and senior Taylor Garner.
