
Cpl. Zach Campbell has been promoted to sergeant in the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division. Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh presented the promotion during a ceremony on Wednesday.
Campbell will serve in the Strategies and Tactics for Opioid Prevention Unit and the Drug and Violence Initiative Unit, which focuses on stopping drug activity and preventing violent crimes.
He joined the Sheriff’s Office in 2017 as a detention deputy, later becoming a patrol deputy in 2018. Campbell previously worked in the STOP Unit for four years, was promoted to patrol corporal, and has served on the SWAT Team for five years.
