Murfreesboro

Tree Lighting
Dec 7, 6pm

In this event, annual tradition is joined with newly formed traditions. The annual tree lighting will be Friday, December 7th at 6pm on the Murfreesboro Square at the Rutherford County Courthouse. Instead of bringing in the tree, though, Mayor Ketron planted a living Christmas tree as a foundation for the tree lightings to come in future years. The evening’s activities include school and church groups offering Christmas songs, an excerpt from the Center for the Arts’ production of “Miracle on 34th Street”, arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus, and more. Plus, shop the locally owned downtown merchTree ants.

Parade
Dec 9, 2pm

The holiday traditions continue with the parade held on Sunday, December 9th at 2pm. The theme this year is “A Christmas Story.” Parade starts on MTSU campus at East Main Street and continues through to West Main Street at Walnut Street.

Smyrna

Tree Lighting
Nov 20, 6pm

Smyrna’s annual tree lighting ceremony will be held at the Smyrna Event Center off Sam Ridley on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, November 20 starting at 6pm. Musical guests include the Lifepoint Church Choir and the Smyrna High School Jazz Band. The kids will get a chance to visit with a special guest who’s stopping by from the North Pole! Hot chocolate and cookies will be served.

Parade
Dec 2, 2pm

The 44th annual parade as per tradition is Sunday, December 2nd 2pm. This year’s theme is “Songs of the Season.” As always, the parade will be along Lowry Street moving toward Sam Ridley.

La Vergne

Tree Lighting and Parade
Dec 1, 6pm

La Vergne will be having their 8th annual “Parade of Lights” on Saturday, December 1 starting at 6pm. Their theme this year is “Oh, Christmas Tree.” The parade will go from Veterans Memorial Park to the City Hall, followed by the tree lighting and a fireworks show. Because the event is after dark, they ask that people bring lights and remind participants that candy is not handed out during the parade due to safety reasons. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served while the La Vergne High School Choraliers perform holiday songs and B&B Family Fireworks showcases a free fireworks show for the community.
