This one had to be seen to be believed.
Riverdale running back Savion Davis hauled in a tipped pass for a 56-yard touchdown on the game’s final play, as the Warriors stunned Cookeville, 30-28, on Friday.
Down by four, the Warriors’ Taylor Yancey threw a Hail Mary down the left sideline, which was under-thrown by a couple of yards. Cookeville defensive back Jarquzes Hicks was in great position to break it up or intercept it.
But falling backwards, Hicks instead deflected the ball to Davis, standing a couple of yards behind him. The Riverdale tailback easily won a footrace to the end zone as time expired.
Earlier in the evening, Davis had 27- and 38-yard touchdown runs.
Riverdale is off next week.
