The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. at the Sheriff’s 9-11 Memorial located at 940 New Salem Highway in Murfreesboro.

Residents are invited to attend the solemn ceremony.

Deputy Commissioner Gregory A. Mays of Homeland Security for the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security will be the keynote speaker.

The centerpiece of the memorial is a 3,000-pound I-beam from the North Tower of the World Trade Center pointed directly at New York City. The three posts supporting the beam represent the New York City firefighters, police officers and paramedics who lost their lives rescuing victims.
Four planter urns represent the four hijacked planes who crashed into the North Tower, the South Tower, the Pentagon and a field in Shanksville, Pa., after passengers diverted the jet away from Washington, D.C.

Rutherford County government’s RCTV will also feature the ceremony periodically on their Comcast Cable Channel 19, AT&T’s U-verse Channel 99 and on DTC Channel 194 in portions of Rutherford County.
