Rutherford County Schools

If you enjoy working with students but can’t commit to a full-time schedule, Rutherford County Schools may have a position for you.

The special education department for Rutherford County Schools is looking for substitute bus attendants. Ideal candidates are those who are flexible and available to work a variety of bus routes.

Substitute positions are best described as fluid and subs will be asked to travel to various bus meeting points throughout the county, and they are paid for time on the bus. Subs may be asked to fill-in for a morning or afternoon, an entire day or even multiple days.

The essential duties for a bus attendant – whether full-time, part-time or substitutes – include assisting students with disabilities getting on and off the bus. This may include assisting students to and from the door of their home, school or other sites.

They are under the general oversight of the bus driver and will assist with monitoring students and alert the driver immediately in the event of an emergency situation.

Becoming a substitute bus attendant is the best way of getting a part-time or full-time position, which are filled as vacancies occur.
