MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Two key members of the Blue Raider men’s basketball team’s historic run in March have been honored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). Junior Reggie Upshaw and sophomore Giddy Potts were both announced as second team All-District 11 selections Friday.
Each all-district team is selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC.
Potts served as the leading scorer for the Blue Raiders, averaging 14.9 points per game while adding 5.4 rebounds per game.
The Athens, Ala., native also led all of NCAA Division I in three-point field goal percentage, making 50.6 percent of his attempts from long range on the season. The mark also serves as the top three-point field goal percentage in a single season in the history of Blue Raider men’s basketball.
Upshaw, a native of Chattanooga, Tenn., was second on the team in scoring at 13.7 points per game while leading the team in minutes per game (31.1), rebounds per game (8.5), assists (76) and steals (51).
The versatile forward became the 32nd member of Middle Tennessee’s 1,000-point club in the Conference USA Semifinal matchup against Marshall. Upshaw also registered 29 blocks on the season and shot 49.7 percent from the field.
The recognition isn’t the first time either Blue Raider was honored this season, as both were named third team All-Conference USA selections while Upshaw was chosen as the Conference USA Tournament MVP.
