Robert Kelly Smith, aged 66, gained his wings on October 8, 2025, peacefully passing at home, comforted by his family.
Kelly never met a stranger and could fix just about anything – from a motor to a bad day. He was a skilled woodworker, builder, and tool technician, earning the nickname of “The Facilitator” thanks to his gift for creative problem solving with his signature, artistic twist. He built a life on love and laughter and was someone you could always count on to show up, lend a hand, a tool, a word of advice.
Kelly was born in Glasgow, Kentucky, and is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lester Smith and Jessie Farris Smith Barton.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia “Trish” Smith, daughter Nealie Smith (Blake), son Jesse Smith, sister Kathy Anderson (David Malloy), and brother Jason Smith (Samantha). Kelly was a “fun uncle” and his many nieces and nephews were very special to him: Elliott Anderson, Asher Anderson, Milan Smith, Jared Smith, Laura Moore (Bobby), Ann Weber, Trevor Lau, Dustin Lau (Anna), Chris Lau, Genevieve Lau-Owen (Tchaka), Kyle Weber, Bradley Weber (Alicia), and Kayla Ward (Tim).
A true celebration of Kelly’s life will be held at home in Eagleville, Tennessee, at 1501 Highway 41a South, on October 25, 2025, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
