Richard Everett Leddy passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, with his loving wife Karen by his side.

He was born on March 16, 1947, to Everett and Theresa Leddy in Buffalo, NY, and spent his teenage years in Newfane, NY. Following graduation from high school and Niagara University in NY, Richard enrolled in law school at Memphis State University. After his first year, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served honorably for two years, including a year in Vietnam.

Upon completion of his military service, Richard re-enrolled at Memphis State where he earned his law degree. While in Memphis, he met his future wife, who later moved to Murfreesboro to begin her career. After they were married, Richard and Karen settled in Murfreesboro, where they raised their sons Michael and Patrick.

Richard lived to serve others, whether through his 20-year law practice, or as Youth Sports Director at the YMCA. His passion was working with young people, and he touched many lives through coaching soccer and Little League baseball and volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America.

After retirement, Richard devoted himself to serving as leader in the Celebrate Recovery ministry at North Boulevard Church of Christ. He held the honor of becoming the youngest member, at age 49, of the “Old Men’s Class”, later being the class leader for many years.

Richard is survived by Karen, his wife of 49 years; sons Michael and Patrick (Renita); sister Patricia Stein of Denver, CO; and numerous relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father Everett and stepmother Beatrice Leddy, mother Theresa Leddy and brother John Leddy.

Visitation with the family will be held at North Boulevard Church of Christ in Murfreesboro on Friday, August 22, 2025, from noon until 1:45 p.m., with a Life Celebration to follow at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro or Celebrate Recovery at North Boulevard Church of Christ.
