Mary Lurlene Smotherman, age 81, passed away on April 10, 2025 in her home in Murfreesboro, TN, with her daughter by her side.
Mary was born June 3, 1943 in Pulaski, TN to Clara Mae Butler and Alvin Butler. She was a native to Columbia, TN and moved to Murfreesboro with her husband and daughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Murfree Smotherman; brothers, Charles and Warren Butler; sisters, Ruth Irvin and Ruby Bobo; and grandchildren, William Keith Fields, Phillip Daniel Hall. She is survived by sisters, Roxie Oxsher, Eva Kubalak, Carolyn Hill.
Mary loved the Lord fully. She was a member at Franklin Road Baptist Church for most of her life. She always encouraged her family on attending church and loving the Lord. Her Husband (William Murfree Smotherman), Daughter (Pamela Louallen), Grandchildren (Michelle and Mikey Haynes) and Great Grandchildren (Tatum “Abbryanna” and Everitt Haynes) and even her fur babies (Magdalene and Smiley) were the center of her world. She loved them all with everything she had. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t do if she wanted to do something she would get it done. She worked at Samsonite in Murfreesboro. She loved to make wedding cakes with her best friend and sewing was her biggest hobby she would sew anything that she could.
Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM, Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home and 12:00-1:00 PM, Monday, April 14, 2025 at Franklin Road Baptist Church.
Church service will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, April 14, 2025 at Franklin Road Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Norris officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
