Mae J. Harris of Murfreesboro, TN (formerly of Muskegon, MI) ended her life’s journey at the age of 96 and joined her Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus Christ on January 7, 2025.

Mae was the widow of 48 years, Ralph W. Harris. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Beulah (Brink) McGoran; 3 brothers, Terrance Lanning, William McGoran and infant Richard McGoran; 2 sisters, Betty Howard and Maxine Archambault; brothers-in-law Walter Archambault, Bob Howard; sisters-in-law, Julie Lanning, Betty McGoran; 1 son-in-law, Elroy Hillard; 1 step-son-in-law, Russell Kelley; her beloved granddaughter, Jodi Lyn Arnold; and 1 special friend, Vera Taylor.

Mae and her husband spent 12 winters in Three Points, AZ where they worked with missionaries helping the Indians. They helped build Faith Baptist Church and School and were both charter members. They also attended Dalton Baptist Church before and after their move to Three Points, AZ. After the death of her husband, Mae took her daughters on a trip to China to fulfill her wish to walk on the “Great Wall” and see the Terra Cotta Soldiers. She also took many solo trips with senior citizen groups enjoying her life.

She is survived by 3 children, David Archambault of Muskegon, MI, Constance (Dennis) Patterson of Murfreesboro, TN, Elizabeth Hilliard of Killen, TX, special step-daughter, Cherielynn Kelley of Whitehall, MI and her family. She was a grandmother to Erin (Jeremiah) Lipps of Muskegon, MI, Patti Kirkey of Fort Worth, TX, Amy (Peter) Cameron of Smyrna, TN, Elysse (Victor) Gutierrez of Round Rock, TX, Ellis (Rashel) Hilliard of San Antonio, TX, Elliot (Amanda) Hilliard of Lockhart, TX, Elijah Hilliard of Killeen, TX and 4 special bonus grandchildren, Kerri (Joe) Clark and Patrick (Lori) Patterson both of Murfreesboro, TN, Jay (Amanda) Kelley and Morgan (Scott) Liskey both of Whitehall, MI. She also leaves 17 great-grandchildren, 4 step great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren. She is survived by 1 brother, Jerry (Sally) McGoran of Montague, MI; many nieces, nephews and their spouses; 1 long time friend, Doan Laney of Matthews, NC; many special friends at Pine Grove Manor Apartments in Muskegon, MI and Westbrook Towers in Murfreesboro, TN.

A celebration of life will be held in Muskegon, MI during the Spring.
