Lounita Cook Howard age 59 of Lascassas, died Friday afternoon, Nov. 5, 2021 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro.
Born July 30, 1962, she was the daughter of Gordon Lew Cook and Sandra Davis Cook. Lounita was a 1980 graduate of Oakland High School and a 1985 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication. She was a journalist and owner and publisher of The Edge newspaper in Watertown.
She is survived by her husband Bobby Howard; Goddaughter, Jessica Hickey of Milton; parents, Gordon and Sandra Cook of Milton; sister, Cindy Cook of Lascassas; brothers, Chip Cook and his wife, Hope of Milton and Richard Cook and his wife, Lisa of Lascassas; nieces and nephews, Crystal (J.D.) Baird, Melody (Rod) Morgan, DeAnna (Tyler) Allen, Charles (JoAnna) Cook, and her beloved pet, Hunter.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021 at Hunter Funeral Home with Bro. Teb Batey officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday and prior to services Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Books From Birth, the Lion’s Club, or a library or charity of your choice.
