OBITUARY: Judy Smith

Mrs. Judith “Judy” Eileen Smith, age 71, of Murfreesboro, TN went to be with the Lord Thursday, December 16, 2021.

She was born in Nashville, TN to the late Thomas Williams Beasley, Jr. and Elna Ruth Walker Beasley.

Mrs. Smith had a beautiful soprano voice, earned an All-State Choir seat in high school, and was a member of the Middle Tennessee Choral Society. She graduated from Tennessee Tech University with her bachelor’s degree in Education. She worked in multiple Tennessee public school systems for almost 50 years spending the most recent 19 years at Northfield Elementary School. Mrs. Smith was awarded the 2019 Northfield Elementary Special Education Support Staff Employee of the Year. She was quite the culinary connoisseur in the kitchen and accomplished seamstress making her own clothes most of her life. Mrs. Smith’s biggest accomplishment was being the embodiment of a preacher’s wife for 27 years. She supported her husband’s calling as a United Methodist Minister with her leadership in the youth group, choir performances, children’s ministry, Christmas pageants, and any other role where she was able to serve.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her mother, Elna Ruth Walker Beasley; children, Amanda Louise Sarles and her husband Gary of Oregon and Scott Walker Smith and his wife Faith Devine of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Connor Sarles, William Walker Smith, and John Joseph Smith; siblings, Thomas “Tom” Williams Beasley, III, and his wife Christi and Martha Sue Beasley Johnson and her husband Brad; and nephews, Lee and Adam Cox.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in passing by her husband, Rev. Samuel Stephen Smith, and a brother, Jeffrey Scott Beasley.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, December 21, 2021 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church. Burial will take place Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
