Joyce Elaine Dement, age 76, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Joyce Florida; and sister, Mary McKee.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Paul Dement; children, Bryan Dement and his wife Amy, Mark Dement and his wife Melissa, Joy Chambers and her husband Jeremy; grandchildren, Ramsey Dement, Makenna Dement, Silas Chambers, Anna Chambers; brother, Edwin Florida and his wife Kim; nieces, nephews, and countless other family and friends.
She was a lifelong member of Lascassas Baptist Church, dedicating over 40 years as the church organist as her mother played the piano alongside her. She also led the children’s choir, helped with vacation bible schools, and was a member of the Woman’s Missionary Union.
Beyond her church involvement, she impacted her community through substitute teaching, managing offices at Murfreesboro Medical Clinic, and co-owning an antique store with her mother and dear friend.
Above all, she was an adoring wife, a proud mother, a caring grandmother, and a loving sister. She had a servant’s heart with a deep love for her family and community.
Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, November 28, 2023, from 12:00-2:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM with burial following at Evergreen Cemetery. https://www.woodfinchapel.com
