Johnny Ray Kimbrough passed away in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, on July 29, 2026, at the age of 78. Born in Paint Rock, Alabama, on December 1, 1947, Johnny was the beloved son of the late Donie Kimbrough.

Johnny shared 56 years of marriage with the love of his life, Linda Jane Kimbrough. He was a deeply family-oriented man of strong faith, and his family was his greatest joy. He poured endless love, wisdom, and strength into those around him. Always curious and wise, Johnny had a deep passion for exploring astronomy and history, relaxing by the water while fishing, and cheering on his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide.

A proud veteran, Johnny honorably served in the United States Army for 13 and a half years as a COM Staff Sergeant (SSG), receiving many honors throughout his career, including the Purple Heart. Following his military career, Johnny was a dedicated hard worker throughout his life, having successful careers as a tool and die manufacturer, open road truck driver, and in security operations.

Johnny is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his son, Jared Kimbrough; and daughter, Dawn (Cory) Henderson. Johnny was a proud grandfather to Jacob (Katie) Kimbrough, Katelin Kimbrough, and Madison Kimbrough, and his great-grandson, Brayden Wood. He is also survived by brother, Justin Justice.

Johnny was preceded in death by his mother, Donie Kimbrough; his stepfather, Junior Justice; his brothers, Clifton Justice, Cris Justice, and Charles Lee “Bucky” Buchanan III; and his grandsons, John Luke Henderson and Gabriel Cole Henderson.

Johnny will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and always remembered by all who knew and loved him. Roll Tide.
