John Thomas Batson, 81, of Asheville, NC, died peacefully on January 3, 2025, in Murfreesboro, TN.
Born on September 9, 1943, in Nashville, TN, to Norman Batson, and Edna Tallman Batson.
John is preceded in death by his parents, and two beloved brothers Joe and Norman.
John leaves behind his loving wife of 24 years, Claudia Corsini Batson. He leaves his children John Thomas Batson, Jr (Rachel), of Evans, Georgia, Robert Matthew Batson, of Covington, Louisiana, and Lydia Batson Hill, of Charlotte, NC, who he shared with former wife, Sylvia Black Leritte. He also leaves his sister Patsy, five wonderful grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Also known as Dad, John Tom, Uncle John, Pops and Popsie, John attended Father Ryan High School, and was part of the Class of 1962. He then earned a degree in accounting from UT, and further education throughout his career equaled to a Master’s Degree. John lived and worked as a special agent for several government agencies, all over the Southeast, and in Los Angeles, CA. John always knew the right thing to do, and did it.
John retired to Asheville, NC, with no intention of ever leaving, until having to escape the ravages of Hurricane Helene.
Known for his wit and generosity, his love of Starbucks, horse races, and chocolate, John will be missed beyond measure by all who knew and loved him.
Mass will be held for family and friends at St Rose of Lima on January 25, 2025, at 12:00. A gathering will follow immediately in the Jo Call Room at St Rose.
