OBITUARY: John “Sam” Youree

John “Sam” Youree, age 61 of Murfreesboro passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019. He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late Samuel and Rachel Vance Youree.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years Cathy Tuter Youree, son John Samuel Youree, II, daughters Jamie Rachel Switzer and her husband Tony, Jessica Brenn Jenkins and her husband Ronnie, sister Cheryl Green, grandchildren Alexis, Jackson, Gage, and Levi Switzer, Mason Goad, Alyza, and Reid Jenkins, nephews Chris and Jason Green, nieces Katy Goad and Kelly Pendergrast, father in law and mother in law Jack and Jamie Tuter, Dan Green, and a host of other family and friends.

Mr. Youree retired from Nissan after 30 years of service. He enjoyed playing in his band as a drummer and loved participating in karate and boxing in his free time. He had a big heart for the Vols but an even bigger heart for his family and especially his grandchildren. All who knew him would say he was the kindest and most thoughtful person and he will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Active pallbearers will be Chris and Jason Green, Tony and Jackson Switzer, Ronnie Jenkins, Bill Taylor, Jack Riggan, and Roy Davenport. Honorary pallbearers are David Kuka, Ron Moulden, Johnny Brown, Eddie Miller, Dan Seals, Darold Dunlap, Andy Smith, Jim Smith, Gage and Levi Switzer, Mason Goad and Reid Jenkins, Ewing Sellers, Mike Parkinson, and Brad Miller.

Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00pm Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. 615-893-5151.
