OBITUARY: Jody Duke

Mr. Jody Darrell Duke, age 70, of Murfreesboro, TN, was called to his eternal home in Glory on Saturday, February 19, 2022.

Originally from Darden, TN, in Henderson County, Jody was born on March 4, 1951, to the late Ohlen and Lucille Lewis Duke.

Jody proudly served in the Tennessee National Guard for 6 years and later went on to graduate from Nashville Auto Diesel College. He married his wife Charlene in 1977, and they had two children together, Joseph Duke and Chelsey Duke Sandman. Jody and his family moved to Murfreesboro, TN in 1992, where he began his career with Nissan North America in the stamping department. He retired from Nissan in 2010 and began a new job at NHK Seating. Nearing full retirement, he transitioned into part-time work driving fleet vehicles with Ford of Murfreesboro. As a man who enjoyed good company and driving on the open road, this was one of his favorite jobs.

Jody is survived by his wife of 45 years, Charlene Grissom Duke: children, Joseph Duke of Nashville, TN and Chelsey Duke Sandman and her husband Mike Sandman of Lascassas, TN; grandchildren, Miles, and Avery Sandman; siblings, Gale Blankenship (Jim) of Parsons, TN, Carol Parker of Olive Branch, MS, Dean D’Amico of Lexington, TN, Harry Duke (Janice) of Darden, TN, and Phyllis Todd (Mike) of Lexington, TN; as well as many nieces nephews and extended family through his wife, Charlene, all of whom he loved deeply.

In addition to his parents, Ohlen and Lucille, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Reeves.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, February 22, 2022, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 23, at 12:00 PM with a pre-service visitation from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. www.woodfinchapel.com A graveside prayer and interment will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

A visitation will be held near his hometown on Saturday, February 26, 2022 beginning from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Reed’s Chapel Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life at 1:00 pm at Reed’s Chapel Funeral Home.
