OBITUARY: James T. “Tim” McClaran

James T. “Tim” McClaran, age 54, of Smyrna, TN, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 3, 2019. He was preceded in death by his father, James Lee McClaran Jr. who passed away in 2016.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna. Brother Wayne Cornwell and Brother Carroll Moore will officiate. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery.

He is survived by his mother, Betty McClaran; sister, Anita Lewis and her husband Mike of Murfreesbroo; brother, Steve McClaran of Murfreesboro; nephews, Jeff Youngs and his wife Cindy of Smyrna, Ben Youngs and his wife Shareen of San Antonio, TX, and Mitchell McClaran of Smyrna; niece, Mattie McClaran of Smyrna; great nephews, Nathan and Sydney Youngs; and great nieces, Mariah, Allison, and Paisley Youngs.

Tim was a member of Highland Heights Church of Christ. He worked in pricing and receiving at Old Time Pottery. Tim loved collecting bibles, looking at barns, listening to the band Devo and watching his favorite baseball team, the Chicago White Sox. He was a very humble individual with a warm spirit and great sense of humor and will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.

Steve McClaran, Jimmy Whitman, Jeff Whitman, Mike Lewis, Andy Maultsby, and Kelly Campbell will serve as pallbearers.

Suresh and Satyen Saraswat, The nurses and staff of Tennessee Oncology in Shelbyville and Murfreesboro, the nurses and staff of the CDU of St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital, the nurses and staff of the CCU Unit of St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital, The excellent care given by the nurses and staff on the 4th floor with kindess and grace, Bobby Vaughn, Jim Tedder, Doug Caldwell, Paul Johns, Glenn Foutch, Jere Whitman, Connie Smith, Brother Tim Mitchell, and the elders and deacons of Highland Heights Church of Christ will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Memorials in memory of Tim can be made to The Lawrence Gardner Fund at Highland Heights Church of Christ or to Happy Haven Children’s Home in Cookville, TN.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna.
