James Norman Hackney, age 77, passed away September 25, 2025. James served in the United States Navy. And a native of Rutherford County. He was a retired farmer, farrier, and musician.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Claiborne Hackney and Oma Mai Duke Hackney, and brother, R.C. Hackney. He is survived by his wife, Emily Hackney; son, Patrick Clay Hackney and wife Kimberly; grandchildren, Sean Hackney, Grace Hackney, and Jaclyn Hackney; stepdaughters, Tara Boyce and husband Chad, Kelly Williams and husband Keith; and six step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the chapel service at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home with Scott Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
