Donald “Don” R. McDaniel, age 89, of Murfreesboro, TN, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 11, 2018. A native of Lebanon, TN, he was the son of the late Rhea F. and Helen Marler McDaniel ; he was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Ann Wood McDaniel.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Brother Jeff Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with military honors.
He is survived by his children, Donald Andrew McDaniel of Murfreesboro,
Mark Steven McDaniel and his wife Kim of Collierville, TN, and LaDonna Elizabeth McDaniel Merville and her husband Ron of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Sara Elizabeth Whitten and her husband Rusty, Mark Steven McDaniel Jr. and his wife Hannah, John Cameron McDaniel, Alexandra Gabrielle McDaniel, and Madeleine Grace Merville; along with many nieces and nephews; and his sister, Winifred W. Halley.
Mr. McDaniel was a member of Kingwood Church of Christ and formerly a member of North Boulevard Church of Christ. He was employed with the Singer Company. He was a proud veteran of both the United States Army and the United States Navy and also served later in the Navy Reserves.
Don Gilbert, Eric Gilbert, Mike Gilbert, Jeff Caplenor, Jere Caplenor, Kevin Waldron, Mark McDaniel Jr. and Rusty Whitten will serve as pallbearers.
Memorials in memory of Mr. McDaniel can be made to the Tennessee Veterans Home or to the American Heart Association.
Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, with the service to follow.
