Mr. Delmer “Del” Floyd Lowe, age 74, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away at home on December 5, 2021, following an extended illness.
He was born on January 31, 1947 at the Rutherford County Hospital just off Bell Street in Murfreesboro.
Del was preceded in death by his parents, Sammy Floyd Lowe and Mary Del Mason Lowe, long-time residents of the Christiana Community. His ancestral family is among one of Rutherford County’s founding families and appears within “Rutherford County Tennessee: History and Families.”
Del is survived by his wife and friend of 49 years, Vicki Gail Justice Lowe; son and best friend, Justin Del Lowe; sister, Becky Marie Lowe Bowman all of Murfreesboro; nieces and nephews, Scott Bowman of Ripley, WV, Jerry Bowman, and his wife Janet of Shelbyville, TN, Becky Kay Bowman Little and her husband Mark of Murfreesboro; mother-in-law, Mary Evelyn Nabors Justice of Watertown, TN; three brothers-in-law, Larry Eugene Justice and his wife Linda of Spring Hill, FL, Robert Thompson Justice and his wife Sherri of Alexandra, TN, and David Willard Justice and his wife Shelly of Bastrop, LA; sister-in-law, Brenda Kay Justice (William “Bill” Hedlund) of Irvine, CA; as well as his and Vicki’s best friend from college—Justin’s Aunt—Dorothy Jane Gibson of Kingston, TN.
Del graduated from Christiana High School where he was a member of the Beta Club and point guard for the basketball team winning the Manchester Invitational Championship. He graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a BS Degree and was among the founding members of Lambda Phi and the Tennessee Beta Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternities. Del completed an MS degree at the University of Tennessee majoring in Animal Science.
Del was a cattleman, but his real passion was for his family. You could often see him sitting on his Bad Boy mower driving to speak to passing neighbors as he watched Vicki work with their flower beds. Or see him and Justin at the City Cafe eating breakfast as one of their boy’s day out.
It was Del’s wish to be cremated and his ashes returned to be with his family and placed alongside the ashes of their much loved Jack Russell, Buddy, without formal services.
