Betty Jean Dykes, August 1, 1944 – September 1, 2024.
Mrs. Betty Jean Dykes passed away September 1, 2024, at St. Thomas Rutherford hospital in Murfreesboro, TN. Betty was born August 1, 1944 in Murfreesboro, TN. She lived all of her life in the Murfreesboro area.
In 1964, while working at Dan’s Truck Stop, she met Mr. Jessie Dykes and a true love story began. Betty and Jessie were married in 1970 and spent most of their time together for almost 60 years. They had two sons Danny Ray and Steven Wayne.
The family enjoyed many trips camping, fishing, and spending time at amusement parks such as Beech Bend, Opryland and Six Flags over Georgia, which was some of their favorite things to do.
Betty enjoyed many different jobs in her life. She worked for Dan’s Truck Stop off of Old Nashville Hwy., a metal rack company in Nashville, TN, and she worked for a Rutherford County Nursing home. At one time, she was an Executive over Housekeeping for the Travelodge on Bell Rd. in Antioch, TN, and she worked for Land Shire’s making sandwiches before leaving to focus on babysitting & selling Tupperware before she retired.
Betty was a very loving mother and was generous in the gifts she gave to her children. She and her husband Jessie enjoyed a lifetime of love together with their sons.
Betty was preceded in death by her mother Helen Sellars and her mother-in-law Ruby Hollis. She is survived by her loving husband Jessie Dykes and their two sons Danny Ray Dykes and Steven Wayne Dykes. She is also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins.
Betty was laid to rest at the Milton Cemetery in Milton, TN on September 11, 2024 in a private graveside service surrounded by flowers in her favorite color of yellow.
