Oakland kept its unbeaten season alive, clinching the Region 3-6A title with a 35-14 win at Cookeville on Friday evening.
The Patriots got a pair of rushing touchdowns from Jeron Rooks, and Oakland’s Jaylen Locklayer scored on a 22-yard return of Aaron Moore’s blocked punt.
Rooks ran 19 times for 137 yards and caught two balls for 26 yards for Oakland (9-0), which handed the Cavaliers just their second loss of the season.
The Patriots led 21-14 heading into the fourth quarter, when Rooks ran for a 5-yard score with 9:26 left, and Justin Jefferson added a 10-yard run 2:50 later.
Oakland’s Mookie Wilson opened the scoring with a 4-yard run in the first quarter.
Tekoy Randolph had an interception for the Patriots, who gave up just 228 yards on 63 snaps.
Patriot quarterback Timmy Goodrich added 62 yards rushing on nine carries.
Oakland hosts Warren County next week to end the regular season.
