Cookeville’s rematch with Oakland didn’t go quite the way the Cavaliers wanted, as the Patriots, led by running back Jeron Rooks, smashed them by a 43-0 score in a TSSAA Class 6A quarterfinal playoff game.
Rooks ran 11 times for 79 yards and two touchdowns, and added two catches for 66 yards.
Quarterback Brevin Linnell was 4-of-8 for 101 yards through the air, and thew for a score.
Justin Jefferson aded 34 yards from scrimmage and a 73-yard kickoff return touchdown.
Oakland (13-0) gets a rematch next week with Maryville (12-1). The Patriots are the only team to knock off the Rebels this season
The Patriots won the previous game against Cookeville (10-3) by a 35-14 count on Oct. 20.
Oakland got on the board first when Woodi Washington caught a 22-yard touchdown from Brian Linnell just 1:52 into the night.
Rooks’s 3-yard scoring run with 3:59 left in the quarter helped Oakland go up 14, and the rout was on.
