Nine Students From Stewarts Creek Schools Selected for National Choir Honors

Nine students from Stewarts Creek elementary, middle and high schools have been selected for the American Choral Directors Association National Honor Choirs.

They were selected out of 10,000 auditions from across the country. A total of approximately 500 students were selected into four honor choirs for students from fifth grade through college.

The students are:

Jacob Capistrant; 8th grade; Junior High Mixed Honor Choir

Haylee Casper; 11th grade; High School/Collegiate SSAA Honor Choir

Jacob Dean; 5th grade; Children’s Treble Honor Choir

Bryson Fletcher; 5th grade; Children’s Treble Honor Choir

Paige Hall; 7th grade; Children’s Treble Honor Choir

Mia Herring; 5th grade; Children’s Treble Honor Choir

Katie Ledford; 7th grade; Children’s Treble Honor Choir

Cadence Russell; 7th grade; Children’s Treble Honor Choir

Maddyn Whitacker; 6th grade; Children’s Treble Honor Choir

They will travel to Kansas City from Feb. 26 to March 3, 2019, where they will perform with some of the finest singers from across the country. The trip will culminate with a concert at the ACDA National Convention for over 3,000 choral professionals from across the world “and work with some of the finest clinicians our profession has to offer,” said Rutherford County fine arts coordinator Lindsay Halford.

Brian Russell is the choir director at Stewarts Creek High School, while Seth Gregory is the middle school choir director and Tara Hutson is a music teacher at the elementary school.
