Road work in Smyrna has been on-going for months as the town prepares to move a traffic light on Sam Ridley Parkway.

The new traffic light is at the Potomac Place/Sam Ridley Pkwy intersection near the new Taco Bell. The change also means the old light and median at the Chaney Road/Sam Ridley Pkwy intersection will be removed permanently. There will be a three-way stop at the new intersection of Potomac Pl and Chaney Road. There will no longer be access from Chaney Road to Sam Ridley Pkwy. All traffic must either use the new Potomac Pl extension or Chaney Ln to access Sam Ridley Pkwy.

Smyrna officials say there will be intermittent lane closures through 6:00 a.m. on August 1. This will allow crews to reset the traffic signals at these intersections.

Many families have used the Chaney Road/Sam Ridley Pkwy intersection in the past for their work and school commutes; Cedar Grove Elementary is half a mile north of the intersection and La Vergne High School is only a mile north. Please use caution while adjusting to the new traffic pattern.
