MyTV30 released their first seven “Friday Night Rivals” games back in July and Steve Mann the director of high school sports programming for Sinclair Broadcasting Group said then that the network would see how the season played out before naming the final three games on the docket.

Although they will wait to name the week 10 and 11 match ups, the station has announced their week nine contest as Smyrna will travel over to Cookeville to take on the Cavaliers in a critical region 2-6A game on October 14.
Currently both programs are ranked in this week’s Associated Press Class 6A poll as the Bulldogs are (3-1) and ranked No. 7 while Cookeville is undefeated at 4-0 and ranked No. 8.

“It’s great for the players and the community to be able to showcase the school and both teams,” Cookeville coach Jimmy Maynord said. “It is always good when high school football is getting promoted and your program is being seen by people across the state.”
