If you are looking to learn about some new clothing trends for the summer or love a good silent auction, then you may want to mark your calendar for this next event. The sixth annual Charity Fashion Show to benefit the Multiple System Atrophy Coalition is Tuesday, March 22, 2016, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. inside the Stones River Mall across from Agaci’. The event is open to the public and will feature a fashion show, a live and silent auction, great food, wine sponsored by Stones River Total Beverage and beer by Mayday Brewery. Event organizers are asking for a minimum $5 donation in advance for admittance, $10 at the door.
For the past six years, Michelle Williamson, owner of Murfreesboro’s bombshells Hair Studio and Spa, has honored her beloved Riverdale high school girls’ softball coach Bob Summers, and his late wife, Susan Summers, who died in 2012 from multiple system atrophy, by organizing and sponsoring an event to raise money to find a cure for this devastating terminal disease.
Multiple system atrophy (MSA) is a degenerative neurological disorder associated with the degeneration of nerve cells in specific areas of the brain. This cell degeneration causes problems with movement, balance and autonomic functions of the body such as bladder control or blood pressure regulation.
“Susan died just four years ago from this horrible disease which robs people of their physical functionality little by little, and is terminal,” said Michelle Williamson, owner of bombshells. “I watched Susan’s life trickle away from her and the grief and devastation for her, her husband Bob and their entire family. We put this event on every year to help keep Susan’s memory alive and to also do something to help further the awareness of MSA and raise funds for research. Please join with us to make the contribution bigger every year.”
