An early evening crash on Interstate 65 North near the I-840 interchange left one Murfreesboro woman dead and two other drivers injured Tuesday.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol accident report, Stephanie A. Coleman, 42, died as she traveled near mile marker 59 southbound in her silver Pontiac sedan in the north bound lanes of the interstate.

She collided head on at about 70 mph with Baker T. Brooks, 22, of New York. After the collision, the wreckage of his Grand Cherokee Jeep took up two lanes while Coleman’s sedan rested in the median. He and another passenger were injured from the accident. As a result of the incident, THP worked the scene for hours to clear the roadway, finally reopening the highway near 11 p.m.

The THP report said both alcohol and drug tests have been sent off for examination. Authorities haven’t filed any criminal charges at this time.

Both the next of kin and the medical examiner have been notified.
